Before the trip, try the boots on with the sock you will wear at the destination. Walk for a few minutes, check that your toes can move and that your heel does not lift. For children, also check that the closure lets them put the boots on by themselves and that the model is not too heavy.

After use, remove excess snow and moisture and let the boots dry in a ventilated place. Avoid placing them directly on heaters or using intense heat unless the manufacturer allows it: materials, glues and coatings can be damaged. Wool or synthetic socks are usually more appropriate for winter than cotton socks, which hold moisture.
